The egg tart or egg custard tart (commonly romanized as dan tat) is a pastry commonly found in Hong Kong and other Asian countries,
Ingredient for the skin :
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 1 cup butter
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 dash vanilla extract
- 2 / 3 cups white sugar
- 1 1 / 2 cup water 9 eggs, beaten
- 1 dash vanilla extract
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- Mix together confectioners sugar 'and flour. stir in butter with a fork until small crumbs.
- Stir in eggs and vanilla until mixture forms dough. The texture should be slightly moist. Add a little butter if flour is too dry, or, if the dough seems greasy.
- Shape dough into 1 1 / 2 inch balls, and press the balls into tart molds so that it covers the bottom, and rises higher than the sides. (Use two fingers to form A)
- Combine white sugar and water in a medium saucepan, and bring to a boil. Cook until sugar dissolves, remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
- Strain the eggs through a sieve, and whisk into the sugar mixture. Enter the evaporated milk and vanilla. Strain and fill into the finishet batter.
- Prehead oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C) Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, until golden brown.
